Creative Sound Design, LLC is an audio production company founded by Frank Bry in 1993 with digital sound sample offerings for Digital Sampling Keyboards. With the success of these libraries, the company expanded by offering digital sample CD-ROMs for the Emu Emulator IIIx, Emulator IV, synthesizer programming for Waldorf Electronics and Emu Systems, and custom sound effects design for video, film, radio and television. He then expanded into custom sound effects design and recording for leading sound effects CD developers.

To kick off thunderstorm season here in North Idaho I want to share with you some new thunder and lightning recordings along with some from my Thunderstorm HD library released a couple years ago. I also want to share some of my tips and techniques I use when trying to record that elusive lightning strike. The audio clip below is thunder I’ve recorded over the last 2 years. The clip contains the raw recordings, no processing except crossfades and gain adjustments. What you hear is what you get. Now, some background information.

Frank Bry is a sound designer and recordist who has worked on several game titles such as Dungeon Siege Series, Supreme Commander Series, Metroid Prime Series and more. He also likes to record sound effects and has an incredibly amount of sounds in his library.
